ISTQB Foundation Level

This training is designed for everyone who wants a solid, recognised entry into software testing or who already works with software and now wants to professionalise their testing know-how. Typical participants include junior testers, career changers from business or IT, developers who increasingly test their own work, business analysts, product owners, QA coordinators and members of agile teams. If you work with software, requirements or quality assurance and want to understand structured testing with a globally recognised certificate, this training is a good fit for you.

Yes, ideally you do need formal testing experience or a previous testing role. The Foundation Level starts with the basics: terminology, roles, test process, test artefacts and the mindset of professional testers. You should, however, be comfortable working with software in general and have a basic understanding of how software is developed and changed in projects.

The Foundation Level exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. The exam duration is usually 60 minutes (plus extra time in some languages or for special conditions, depending on the exam provider). You need at least 65% of the points (26 correct answers) to pass and receive the ISTQB Foundation Level certificate.

In most cases, the course fee covers the training, materials and preparation, while the official exam fee is charged separately by an authorised certification body. We support you in selecting the exam provider, language and format (remote online, public exam date or test centre) and guide you through the booking process. For company groups, we can also bundle training and exam on request and coordinate this centrally with your organisation.

You can complete your ISTQB FL training with MeJuvante in three flexible formats that can also be combined. We offer an intensive 4‑day trainer-led course (onsite at your location or live online), a guided online self-study in 10 sprints with coach and MeJu Academy Bot, or a blended model that combines the 4‑day training with extended online self-study. Most participants choose the blended model because they rarely have four consecutive days available and prefer to mix live training, recordings and flexible self-study.

The official ISTQB guideline expects around 19 hours of instruction for Foundation Level, which we provide in a clearly structured format. In the 4‑day variant, this time is delivered as an intensive, trainer-led course; in the 10‑sprint self-study path, it is distributed over shorter, focused learning units. Plan with roughly 2–4 weeks from course start to exam, depending on your chosen format, your study speed and your selected exam date.

For LinkedIn cohorts and international participants, we typically offer English-language trainings. Depending on demand and on company requests, we also run German-language cohorts or company-specific groups in German or as bilingual (DE/EN) sessions. You can choose your desired exam language separately when booking the official ISTQB exam through the certification provider.

If you book as a company, we can additionally provide internal checklists, templates and examples tailored to your organisation, tools and processes.

You need a stable internet connection, a laptop or PC and a headset or good audio setup. We usually use common collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams or equivalent platforms that work directly in the browser without complex installation. A quiet environment and, ideally, a second screen help you follow the slides and exercises comfortably, but they are not mandatory. The Training is done using Microsoft Collaboration suite, which can be utilisied even with a none-microsoft account.

Yes, many participants are funded by their employer as part of professional development or team-wide quality initiatives. We are happy to issue company invoices, handle purchase orders and design group offers for teams or departments, including dedicated dates and internal examples. 

For larger groups, we can align schedule, learning path and documentation with your specific project context and internal standards.

If you know in advance that you will miss a live session, please let us know as early as possible so we can plan your learning path. Depending on the cohort and chosen format, we can offer you access to recordings, additional Q&A slots, alternative session dates or a place in a future cohort to close gaps. In the blended and self-study formats, you can also catch up using recorded content, the MeJu Academy Bot and your coach to clarify open questions.

After successfully passing, you receive your official ISTQB Foundation Level certificate from the certification body. We can help you plan your next steps, such as Agile Tester, Advanced Level modules or internal quality initiatives in your organisation, and how to position your certification in your CV and on LinkedIn. If desired, MeJuvante can support you further through coaching, project consulting or additional trainings in testing, QA, test automation and AI-supported quality assurance.
